Degree Options for Aspiring Credit Managers
While associate's degree programs in credit management can prepare students for entry-level positions, a bachelor's or master's degree program in finance, business management or business administration is typically required for advanced positions.
Essential Information
Credit managers work within banks, financial organizations or other companies to collect payments from customers and clients.
While it is possible to get a job as a credit specialist or credit manager with just an associate's degree in the field, many employers prefer to hire those
candidates who have a bachelor's degree. A bachelor's or even a graduate degree in business management or business administration often offers courses in credit management that can prepare graduates for the career.
These programs include Bachelor of Science in Finance, Bachelor of Science in Financial Management, Master of Science in Finance and Master of
Science in Economics. Completion of most of these programs requires the completion of an internship. A high school diploma or its equivalent is
required for entry into an associate's or bachelor's program, and a
bachelor's degree is required for entry into a master's program.
